    Multiple/Primary Monitors with MacBook

    Hey guys,

Hope this is the right place to post this, only mac sub forum I could find!

I've been using a MacBook Pro with a second monitor to do some work on recently but I've only been able to use the screen on the MacBook itself as the primary display, which is frustrating as I really wanted to work on the external monitor as its a lot bigger and higher res.

Mirroring the displays wouldn't be too bad but the screen doesn't go that high-res on the MacBook and consequently wont go that high on the external. Ideally though does anyone know of a way to move the dock and the menu bar to the external screen? Its really frustrating having to zoom between the screens to use the menu.

    Cheers Guys.

In the monitors bit systems preferences just drag the dock from one screen to the other in the little windows

does it default back to the mac book as the primary if you remove the mini-dvi connector and use it a notebook again or do you have a blank screen with a missing dock.
    It is Inevitable.....

I'd bet on it going back to default, anything else would be unapple

It goes back to the default Macbook screen. You will have to drag the bar over again if you reconnect the external and want to make that main.

Alternatively, before you unplug the monitor, put the macbook to sleep. Then unplug the monitor, and wake up. It should sense that there is no monitor attached, and make the MacBook display the main one with the dock.

Sleep it, plug in display, wake up, and it should have reverted to the external monitor as the main display.

At least, that's what happens with my MPB
