    Hard drive upgrade for MBP?

Ahoy, managed to resist installing Bootcamp on my new MacBook Pro for 2 weeks - the thought of playing Counterstrike Source on a Mac was just too delicious. Now it seems tainted - my 120gb drive has shrunk slightly to accommodate the XP partition - how easy is it to replace the internal drive with something a bit larger?

    Would http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=604615work?
    Thanks

I believe that would fit, but its a bit on the slow side, you'd want to go for at least 5.400rpm, you could probabily even squeeze a 7,200rpm laptop drive in there.

Cheers - had a look and I'll maybe hangon for a bit - seems to invalidate my warranty, I'll make do with my 120gb drive until the warranty runs out - I'll probably take bootcamp off when the novelty wears off anyway.

with the macbook its significantly easier i think. I was considering changing the 60gig on my MB for something larger, but have now decided just to go for the HDD and an external USB caddy. Much simpler

It shouldn't void your warranty just that of the hard disc. The alternative is getting the hard disc and paying an apple authorised service center to fit it. That will cover you from the hassle too.

beauty of slower drives is they improve battery life, id stick to 5400 i would bother with 7200 unless you know that you need it

Get an external firewire drive. Boot from that.
