    Mac, AppleStore & Repair question

    Hi guys.

Here's the deal. I've got a 20" iMac, purchased in early 2006 (so its just a core duo one). Its developed a dark patch on the LCD in the lower left hand corner, and I'm wanting to get it repaired under my AppleCare, no problem.

My question is, the Apple Store sells refurbs... They must get the refurbs from somewhere right?

I want one of the new 20" iMacs, partially for the extra speed, partially for for the upgraded graphics. Any way that apple could do a swapsie? Obviously I'm willing to pay a bit extra for it, but is it possible? They could then use it as a refurb on their site once they fix the LCD?

Alternatively... How much do you recon I could get for it after I've gotten it fixed?

    Cheers

The Apple refurbs are display models or models returned by customers within the allowed return period. I'm afraid you will not be able to sell your iMac back to Apple. You could eBay it or something similar, and you will fetch a decent price for it if it's in good condition.

Price wise, it would depend on the specs. Lower end Core Duo iMac models might fetch anything between £300 to £500, and higher end ones £300 to £650 on eBay.
