    Installing Leopard

    Hi all,

Sorry if this sounds really stupid but I have never installed a new OS onto my Mac ...

If I go through the process of installing the new OS X 10.5 Leopard onto my Mac will it erase everything I have on my system currently?

    Thanks all,

    Re: Installing Leopard

Is there a windows style activation / serial thingt with Leopard ? Or do you just need the disc and no internet connection ?

My friend bought leopard, installed it. Then went back to OS X and is looking to sell the copy of the new OS to me. If it contacted the server and did its stuff, then obviously I cant use it.

You cannot legally do this, if he still has it installed. If he went back to tiger thats fine.

There is no copy protection at all in os x (Except the discs that come with new computers, they have a hardware check so will only install on say macbooks or mini's). So there is no physical reason you couldn't do this though.

Thanks. He has definitely gone back - the last time I checked.
