    Mighty Mouse is in fact...

... a total load of crap. Jesus it's so awful. It's like they took a look at the really well-established ergonomic design for mice (actual buttons, large scroll wheel, back/forward browser buttons) and then threw all that great stuff out of the window and replaced it with something you are actually required to learn how to use, and cripple yourself whilst doing so!

Seriously - capacitive buttons? Come on.... who honestly lifts their left finger off the left button when clicking the right one? And those side-squeezy things? I mean I actually have to shift the grip of my entire hand to be able to squeeze hard enough to make them work, and even then the don't do anything useful (like back/forward).

I'm just waiting for the scroll wheel to jam up with finger mange before I beat the nearest apple fanboi I can find to death with it.

Ahhhh... that's better. Ranting is so cathartic.

    That is all.

Re: Mighty Mouse is in fact...

It was a huge step forward - for a company that clung to the idea that one mouse button was a good idea for so long.

But yeah, it sucked. After the hype died down even the die-hards stopped talking about it..

indeed. I just don't understand how they can go so wrong so many times when it comes to mice. Still, at least it's better than this:

    I like mine...
Tho I must admit i thought the idea of having to raise your left finger to right click was odd, but after a day of annoyance in changing my automatic finger reflexes i had absolutely no problem. Its just new things thats all,
however the scroll ball is great with 360' panning etc..

All you have to do is alter your computer habits slightly.. not difficult!

Nope, im very happy with mine!

Re: Mighty Mouse is in fact...

It is really a shocking piece of equipment..and they have the nerve to try and charge £30 for it!

It feels cheap, it looks cheap, and it falls apart within hours of usage..and yet people seem to love it? The scroll wheel gets gunged up incredibly quickly, and provides zero feedback when your using it - largely as its so tiny. The buttons..well as has been mentioned they are really a pain to use i you want to use anything other than left click, and even that is touch and go.

My main computer and laptop are both from apple (mac pro + macbook), and I use the really great new apple keyboard all the time..but the mighty mouse? Its sitting in the box un-used, and i'm using my vastly superior Microsoft Laser mouse instead.

Maybe one day we will get a proper mouse from Apple, most of their kit is really good..I just don't get why they can't produce a mouse thats up to the quality of the rest of their product range..heres hoping for macworld09

See therein lies the problem imo.

THe rest of the world has settled on a mouse design that works really well. The basic design has been fine for about 10 years now yet Apple thing that they can redesign something that works fine

oi! stop being mean to me hehehe

i absolutely agree with everyone who dislikes the mighty mouse. I hate it sooooooooooo much its unbelievable. The stupid roller ball mouse gets dirty and there is no way to clean it without voiding the warranty. so after the warranty i just cut the damn thing up and then clean it. not to mention that its such a battery sucker!! damn it!! yesterday, just my luck the stupid apple wireless keyboard died too! Its so annoying.

The mouse doesn't move fast enough for my liking, even with sensitivity all the way up, especially on a 24" screen.

Re: Mighty Mouse is in fact...

Yup, and the OS X mouse acceleration curves are really weird. It's really slow when you move really slow - like moving through mud, but the threshold to a lot of acceleration is very sudden, and then I overshoot things. I find it very frustrating after having used a Windows/Linux machine for a while beforehand. Even after getting used to it, I still think it's annoying.

Just sell the thing on ebay, and get a proper mouse.

It doesn't even look remotely nice. It's trying to be too modern and simplistic - I want to see the goddam buttons on my mouse!

You guys are just complaining because your used to something different, and changing to something that doesn't feel natural is always going to be uncomfortable.

I can understand why people don't get on with it, I am fine with it.

If you can't hack it then plug in a 2 button mouse.... easy.
