    Question Recommend Me a MacBook...

    Hey all,
I've been toying with the idea of getting a Mac for a while and now it's crunch time!

Basically I'm away for most of the week with work and I'm away most weekends; therefore I am looking for a decent laptop to take with me. I'd like it to play WoW, do some java programming and to be good for basic document editing.

Anyway, do I go for the latest MacBook revision or an earlier one? Also does anyone have any recommendations on where to purchase these from?

    Thanks in advance,
    Leon

    Ibook?! thats going back a while . . .

If your looking for something pre Intel/Macbook days then go for a very late G4 Powerbook?

    What sorta budget?

And I'm an idiot.... I meant MacBook.... Honestly.... I can only blame it on the fact that I was on a conference call whilst writing this!

(If a mod sees this can they please change the title!)

    Re: Recommend Me a MacBook...

Hmmm okay so I've found a voucher on HotUKDeals that gives £69 off the MacBook

However, the MacBuyersGuide suggests not buying due to the impending introduction of the new MacBooks

Should I go for it? Help!

Erm, how much would you use/like the 'new' features that might be on the new line?
Also unless im mistaken most of the hyp about new models are rumors? Just gotta ask yourself can you wait for what may or may not be a new line?

Also how urgent is it that you need/want the macbook?

    Re: Recommend Me a MacBook...

As per my post in the Wanted area, I'm now looking at second hand MacBook Pros or PowerBooks (I like the idea of a dedicated graphics card).

I'm just a little unsure about buying off Ebay!

    Re: Recommend Me a MacBook...

Ignore the PowerBooks as they use G4 processors which are crap compared to the new Intel stuff. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any MBPs for sale up here. I purchased my MB from ebay a year ago and it's been rock solid ever since. It's taken a fair beating though and needs the keyboard-cover replaced for the second time (grr).

  9. Received thanks from:

Thanks for the advice Steve, I just don't want to purchase a Powerbook/Macbook Pro without doing my research as I don't want to be duped!

I'm going to be using the Mac Laptop for mostly basic things, but I would like it to run WoW (hence going for a Powerbook/Macbook Pro).

There's plenty on Ebay so I'll spend sometime investigating!
