how to get a USA mini IPOD to the UK?

    hi

got a mate wanting one soonish (read now!) but amazon.com won't allow it to be shipped over here (maybe because its a preorder???).

    anyway, can it be done?

in addition, does the mains charger that it comes with (i assume it comes with one for when you aren't at your pc?) allow 110-240v or just 110v?

    cheers

Autosensing PSU - you will need an adapter.. I have one if they use a normal apple style charger...

Getting one? Apple.com might allow it.

david@ do you mean that the apple charges form 110/240 ac switchable, in which case you just need a socket adaptor?

U can get ipod travel kits which means u can use it over here.

Apple stop their resellers from shipping their items over seas so most won't do it

I am a lucky rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish who was in the US when the IPOD Mini was released and proceeded to Q for about 2 hours to get one!, it was worth it. The Ipod Mini is not allowed to be shipped to the UK until its release date in APRIL! look on ebay but at the moment they are selling for about $350-$400! with the other question in relation to power i had a brain fart and didnt think about it until in the store, however if you purchase the IPOD Mini you can also purchase the Dock ($40) this allows the FIREWIRE/USB to be plugged in to the machine easy for uploads also used to charge the IPOD. Only time you will require the adaptor is when you leave the PC for some time! Apple do make a worldwide travel kit which comes with 5 adaptors to convert voltages again this kit is $40. The Ipod Mini has impressed me so far (only released in US on 20th Feb) and make sure if your coming back into the UK that it is included in the amount of goods that Customs allow you to import or you will face the wrath on the Inland Revenue for some cheeky VAT or Import Tax. Good Luck on the Search. PS if anyone would like 5 free pepsi Itune codes i won them in the US but am not allowed to download them without a US address the first email from the US can have them!!!

    ... and the prices.

My friend has one on order, but they haven't shipped it yet (to his US address). It charges off firewire so power isn't so much of a problem. I think the price, using the current conversion, was about £135!

You dont have any worries about power. I have a 3rd gen ipod (regular one) from the states sitting next to me and you just need an adapter lead- nothing like a transformere or anything.

Mine was bought back by my dads mate who was on holiday

You don't need anything for a US ipod - except a kettle style power plug or a firewire port!
