EFI-X USB VI dongle - Mac OS on a PC

For all of you would-be-macoids out there this might be a great piece of news:
there is a relatively easy way to get Mac OS running on a standard PC.
    Read the review on testfreaks:

Two issue I see with this though:
    - this dongle is NOT USB, you have to put that on pins on the motherboard
    - hardware compatibility is conditional

Re: EFI-X USB VI dongle - Mac OS on a PC

I've been following this, and providing you stick with the HCL then it is mainly fine. At the moment there is a bit of an issue with Bonjour on Gigabyte boards, as all use Realtek chipset.

Have been trying to find out if the DFI boards with Marvel NIC also suffer the same problem.

I did build an OSX86 machine and it too much work in getting it running, unless you carefully pick your hardware, so I don't find the HCL being restrictive a problem. I got it working but if do again will go with the EFI-X dongle as makes life easier. Especially now there is a UK reseller.

Is time and effort vs money as always. As about £140 then worth it in my opinion.

Also works with OSX Server for those wanting to run a home OSX Server.

Quad Core 8Gb, Highpoint Raid cards supported, can even boot from the lowly RR2320 which you can't do with a real Mac.

Debating whether to build something like this or just get a MacPro.
