    Selling?

I was wondering how much i could sell my MBP for because i want to get a nice shiney new one (with a better GPU)
    Specs in my sig.

Its just had a new screen and dvd player installed so the clamshell is immaculate, few small marks to the inside around the keyboard but nothing major and the bottom has quite a few scratches on it as i lost 2 of the feet (now they have been replaced).

Sorry to rain on your parade but the Geforce 9600M GT found in the newer Mac Book Pros is just basically a rebadged 8600M GT with more RAM and a faster clockspeed!!

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/product...00m_gt_us.html

Both have 32 stream processors BTW!!

Supposedly you will only get a 25% improvement in overall performance:

    Re: Selling?

thing is i use software called VDMX for live video editing remixing rendering etc and that uses the graphics card quite intensively so i really need to bump up the Vram amount, any clock speed is just a bonus.

I hope I never work for you CAT; if you refer to a 25% performance increase as "only" you must have huge expectations!

Between graphics card upgrades I expect the new card to be at least twice as fast as the old one.

So far my major graphics cards upgrades for my desktop have been:
    1.)9500 pro
2.)6800LE unlocked to 16 pipelines and 6 vertex shaders
    3.)x1900gt
    4.)HD3870
    5.)HD4830 - this was because I broke my HD3870!!

TBH even after selling the "old" MBP it will still cost a lot to upgrade to the newer model. It is pathetic that ANY expensive notebook like the previous generation MBP comes with 128mb of RAM for a dedicated graphics card. Even my first notebook from 2003 had a graphics card with 64mb of onboard RAM.

I agree but Quartz composer and VDMX are worth the sacrifice and cost imo

Stop procastinating and buy it, you know you will sooner or later, so you may as well do it now.
