Back to the Mac - Event @ 6pm

Of course you can watch it live on any apple device,
    streamed at www.apple.com @ 6pm

but if you want to watch it on your PC you can go here:

    http://www.ustream.tv/channel/apple-...ack-to-the-mac

    Predictions:

    • 11" Macbook Air (well that's pretty much a given, as is an SSD)
I'd love it to have touchscreen athough that's probably unlikely.
    • 3G in macbooks
    • Facetime replacing iChat, so Macs can video conference with iPhone4s
    • more cloud based services - iDisk to be more like dropbox (which is great)

Well the conference is now over. Shall we see how you did?

Maybe an obvious prediction given all the speculation but correct either way. Personally I'm now lusting over the 11.6inch air despite having no need for it. Damn you apple!

I would have liked this one but shame it didn't happen. Good job there's always tethering...

Well we got facetime for the mac but it's a standalone app rather than part of iChat. Not quite sure how I feel about this one.

Nothing announced yet. I imagine with apples newly built data centre this is only a matter of time.

Engadget drinking the Kool aid on this one I think:
You have to click on a person's name and then guess which email or phone number they have associated with a FaceTime account -- none of the helpful icons from the iPhone have made it over to guide you. It took quite a bit of extra-FaceTime communication to sort out what was what, but once you guess at the right bit of info to place the call with, it's typical Apple simplicity
Yeah, sounds like typical Apple simplicity: annoying as hell to get it working, but all is forgiven when you do because then you are within the Jobs Distortion Field

Re: Back to the Mac - Event @ 6pm

I watched the last hour or so on my iPad, like a good little clone.
Nothing really tempted me, though I was mainly watching to see what Lion was bringing and details were pretty thin on the ground but that was to be expected, really...

Re: Back to the Mac - Event @ 6pm

FaceTime finally becomes useful now it can be used from a mac at home to an iphone4 out and about (on 3g if jailbroken).

Lack of built in 3G on those Macbook Airs is a bit puzzling TBH

I expected the event to be more about OS X Lion than it actually was -
