Looks swish! I see you got round the old mirroring only video out problem. How are ya finding panther? Have you got any cases or anything for it yet?
Also, keep a hold on your proof-of-purchase, cos a new os is just around the corner

Yeah, got the hack so that monitor spans now. Hooked it up to my 21" CRT and it worked great. Just need to learn Final Cut Express now! No cases yet, I'll probably buy the neopreme slip case so that I can use whatever bag I choose.
I know that Tiger is out soon, but how will keeping my proof of purchase help? Will I be able to get it cheaper or something?
congrats on the iBook (that is the one I wanted but they didn't have it when I got my 933 14" oh well) and as for the coupons just hang on to them cause I don't know what they are going to be good for...I have heard they might be used for upgrades but then again what do i know

Isn't the firmware hack required to let the iBook do the spanned display and operation when the lid is shut bad for the machine? An Apple employee was saying on the SA forums tha Apple wanted to let the iBooks span and run with the lid closed, but they overheated and killed the GFX chip.
As the guy on SA said:
BTW the PowerBook supports closed lid operation and extended desktop, the iBook just supports video mirroring. We had planned to offer this on the iBook but we ran into a problem: overheating. If you hack your firmware on your iBook to enable extended desktop and closed lid operation you run the risk of frying your graphics chip when using it for extended periods of time.
Looks very nice, I hope you enjoy that I wish I could have the economy so that I could buy a laptop. Well ibook is good, so what do you think about it so far?
Love, Peace and Linux
they way around the overheating issue when running closed lid is not to close the lid all the way...just keep it closed to the point where it doesn't go to sleep (apx 1" gap between lid and front of case) and that should help..would I do it for an extended period of time...not a chance

Haven't run it at all with the lid closed. The hack I got was to allow spanning. Not even tried with the lid closed - don't think I will now!
Congrats on the iBook, Just waiting for mine to get here.
BTW i assume you can close the lid when you put the ibook to sleep?
