Got an absolutly bargin on a g4 powermac!

My girlfriend works for a publishing company and they were getting rid of some of their old machines including g4/g3/imacs. She paid 50 quid for a G4 not really knowing the spec.

When we got it home I cracked it open to check the specs, it has 1 gig of ram twin scsi hard discs with one of them being 76gig ! Its an absolute bargin. The only problem is that it won't boot as the IT bod didnt finish reinstalling the OSX grrrr got to try to sort that out.

Very happy with the deal tho hehe

it can't be that hard to reinstall the OS? mind you even if you did have to get a new one its really not that bad is it, def. much cheaper than buying whole new one by a long way!

Sounds like ya got a great deal there.
If you can wait, the new version of OSX, Tiger, will be out soon, probably after the WWDC which is pretty soon. Let us know how ya get on

actually here is the release list for OS X

    10.0 March 2001
    10.1 Oct 2001
    10.2 Aug 2002
    10.3 Oct 2003

and as you can see it is usually more than 6 months..as for Tiger...don't expect that to be released at WWDC...there is going to be a preview and that is all and I would expect an Oct-Nov release at the earliest
    XP2400, (2) 256Meg Crucial PC2100, ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128Meg, LeadTek TV2000XP all in a Shuttle SK41G and hooked to a Sony E540 / NEC 1712

    iBook 14.1" 933Mhz G4, 640Meg, 60GB, Combo running 10.3.x
