Getting old G3 powerbook working on network ...

    Heya all.
First off i have to say i really kno nothing about using macs but have been given my dads old G3 powerbook ...

    One of them.
My problem is i really want to get it onto the internet so i can use it properly for my work etc. but have no idea how to get this done.
Ive tried fiddling with all the obvious options but if anyone knows exactly how this is done any help would be appreciated.
Do i need to prehaps download something with my PC to install on the Mac to get it to work?
    Ive no clue ...
It has OS 9 on it by the way.

Well thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

    Hi,

What method of connection are you using (Dial up/Broadband)
The things to check are the TCP/Ip control panel and the remote acces control panel. Ill get the exact details when I get home and can look at my machine, cos I haven't used OS9 for ages.

In which case, check the tcp/ip settings, set it to ethernet DHCP or specific settings required by IT Dept. (can't remember exact wording). Also, If you want to access other machines, go to the AppleTalk control panel and set that to the ethernet connection. Any proxies or anything particular for internet like passwords etc are done under the Internet control Panel.
