New G5's including a Liquid Cooled version

All Dual PowerMac's have been long rumored with initial plans for a June 8th release, which was pushed back at the last minute. Liquid cooling has also been rumored in the recent past as a technology Apple has been working on.

Of Interest

- Only Dual 2.5GHz is Liquid Cooled
- Motherboard does not appear to be the same as the leaked service manual pictures
- Uses the 90nm PowerPC

Looks like there are some serious heat issues with the g5 , apple have just announced they won't be hitting 3ghz by the end of the year.

only a 9600xt in top machine, thats just lame

God those benchmarks are so funny! 98% faster than a FX-53, whatever...

i'm not too convinced with the diagrams of their cooing from apple.com - dual cpus in series? piping the hot liquid from cpu a to cool cpu b? that's just silly :/

very wrong I hope its just the artist getting something wrong. The Second cpu will be far hotter than the first.


Not to mention the concerns of how much the average mac user knows about how to maintain a wc system. The dont mention water so I suppose it could be some special fluid which avoids the clogging which acrues in a normal wc setup.

I'd like to see what people's experiences are like after a year with this new system :)

Yer, hopefully it's the diagram being simplified a hell of a lot so people understand it.

And as it's a sealed system it could be using that funky 3M liquid which I've forgotten the name of.
