A Stupid Question, maybe!

Evening folks,

I am an iBook G4 user and my shuttle SN41G2 has bit the dust. Seeing as my laptop is so funky i thought i would buy a desktop Mac to replace my broken rig, but when i look at the G5s on apple.com, they only have the dually flavour, do they not build single cpu G5s??!? I am sure they did? If not i feel rather silly Is it worth me getting such a punchy machine, i do mainly internet surfing, HTPC type stuff as well as using scientific programs like RASMOL, GNUPlot and i am learning to program bioinformatic apps....

Is it worth the big layout?

they stopped doing the single cpu 1.6's a few months ago, a few weeks after i got mine... you can still get them from stores and other places online, but, to be honest, the new 1.8 dual isn't much more expensive.

You might want to wait.

The iMac WILL be released within the next 30days, prolly at Apple Expo Paris at end of August.

They WILL be G5 based, as for other details, they are just rumours.
