Look nice, underpowered for gaming though.

But I suppose if you want to game a Mac isn't your first choice of machine.

Can't say I like it, there is too much below the actual screen, looks strangely proportioned. Bit pricey for what is under the hood, can't believe you still only get 256Mb of ram

I like it, nice and solid looking...for £900 not bad at all, but you'd really want the superdrive...although putting an external one in via firewire wouldn't be a huge problem.

£900 for a 17 inch tft, just think that to buy that would be £200+ if its a decent panel, plus the computer...okay 1.6GHz is gonna be similar to a 1.6GHz Athlon 64. My 2800+ socket 754 setup cost me not much less than £500 without monitor (okay with 1Gb of RAM...actually more than £500 I think, now that I have put a dvd burner in)...

IMHO, its actually pretty good value, graphics card and low memory aside, and I'd bet its a DAMN site quieter than my computer!

    Ah if only I'd waited...maybe...

More and more I find myself pining for a mac. Why why why do they have to be so damn shiny and pretty and and... :|

My wife'd get one if it was more powerful, but as it is she'll be shelling out the difference and going for a 2.5GHz G5 with a 23inch monitor...

Still, it's very pretty, and as with a lot of new LCD screens, you don't notice the extra bits under the screen once you start watching it...

Don't forget that the 17" screen that comes on it is 1440 x 900 compared with 1280 x 1024 on most other 17" panels.

I reckon I'll get the 1.8 17" after Xmas, unless there's a 2GHz out by then. I've only had my iBook a few months and I'm already converted.....

Certainly a major advantage of a mac (I've just bought a powerbook), is impressing your mates with its sexyness!

I just love how you have to pay an extra $1125 dollars to get it upgraded to 2gb of ram.

Well yeah, They're all a bit Dell like that, Crucial is a much more sensible price and it's all guranteed for the machine..

But then there are always those with more money than sense
