Old Style iPod compatability with PC?

I've had a 20Gig iPod sitting in my drawer for ages, and since my wife just picked herself up a slinky new iPod mini (in pink of course) I thought I'd dig mine out and see if it still works....

...However (and here lies the problem) it's Mac compatible only, and I'm fed up having to mess around with iTunes on the Mac, import and delete all the files I want on the iPod every time I want to synchronise, so I thought I'd turn to the forums...

...is there an easy way to make my iPod PC compatible? Software fix would be smashing...anyone?

    Many thanks just in case...

As its a 20gb, it will be pc compatible, you just need to download the software updater on the pc, plug it in, and it should recognise it and let you reformat it into pc-compatible.

Worked. Fantastic...although I just managed to find a pair of 2.5mm stereo headphones that works with my Treo 600, which along with the 512Mb SD card, gives me a fair number of tunes to carry around with me....and I'd much rather have just one brick in my pocket than two....
