    Question Creative or ipod?

well wanna get an mp3 player by one of these companies. Just wondering a few things.

My major concern is using the player as a portable hard drive. If i take my ipod lets say and plug it into a random computer at my uni via usb, will windows xp auto detect it and let me drag stuff like word docs to the ipod? Or do i have to install special software/drivers for this to work?
I read that for the creative muvo, winxp auto detects it fine? I'm not sure if its the same for the zen but i presume so.

Also the ipod doesnt seem to have a removeable battery?

Well, its mainly the data transfer stuff i'm worried about, as dont want to be faffing around installing crap on the computers.

    Thanks for any replies!

Ipod should work like a normal plug and play hdd (on win XP anyway). Only needs special software to put music on it. Ipod battery is not easily removable, but you can change it yorself (if you have huge cohones).

I personally use Ephpod to transfer music over, its free and is very stable (beats anything else in my opinion, itunes sucks )

ok i read some where that if u format the ipod under winxp, it allows windows computer to recognise the ipod as a removeable hd. Anyone tried this at all?

get the Creative you save £££ and it aint bad it will do what u want quite easily. think of the money you save and u get a decent hours of battery + the fact you dont have to pay ££ if ur battery screws up.

creative player has better sound than an ipod, batteries are not a problem and they are not as overpriced as an ipod. you can drop and drag files as well.

I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

The Karma is the most appealing overall, but is supposed to have horrible build quality.
Otherwise, get an I-River IHP-140 mate
