AppleStore UK & TNT
Yes, what I'm about to talk about is the quality of service by TNT.
As most of you may know I've ordered a G5 via the UK HE store. As I live in Uni dorms, if the delivery guy comes he can not contact me - and considering that TNT's policy is delivery between 9am and 6pm there is no way I can camp outside for that long waiting for the TNT truck...
I've spent over £25 calling TNT, being bounced around and then calling Apple to complain.
All I wanted is for the delivery guy to CALL me when he gets here so I can go down to pick it up - and I offered to pay the guy £10 quid JUST for the call!
Everyone at TNT says 'yea we will call you back in 1hr'...of course no call. Today the Superviser of the Call centre her self said she'll call back - hell no!
Delivery has been posted for tomorrow - I'll post back and see what'll happen. TNT has not confirmed that the delivery guy will call me or not...this sucks.
An idea just hit me...take my powerbook n' charger and sit outside (finding a plug point will be a problem) and maybe the Wifi signal from my room *might* reach that far..hrm...maybe not....pffft!

TBH you will be lucky. TNT contract out a lot of their work now days and if the bloke has 85 drops to do, he ain't going to hang around. I work for one of the UK's largest company's and if a delivery driver has to wait more than 5 minutes, they will often leave and come back the next day. Have you thought about having it delivered to the goods in at the uni? Phone and ask them they "might" receive it for you, most company's will accept a goods in address. About he only people who will phone are those delivering for a single company, as they have a smaller number of drops to do. Maybe you could pay extra and have a Saturday delivery?

Saturday deliv...ooh that's an idea infact. Think is currently the shipping is free - i.e. Apple has covered it, but I plan to call the Gen Manger for the Bradford Depot and find out what they are planning on doing. I will ask him about the 'pay for a sat drop' - thanks dude...that might just work!

can't you just go and pick it up from the depot? Bradford aint far away from Leeds.

I'm an international student and I don't have a car m8. A cab ride to brandford would cost a tad too and I'm not sure how many cabs would fit a G5 (with box) inside and/or cab drivers being too picky about the weight!

I had exactly the same problem trying to recieve my iPod at uni
Just went to speak to the ppl at reception for the halls though and they agreed to recieve the parcel for me. worth asking the ppl at yours to see :)

Lo there Spud!
Well it's the fact that this is a £1000 quid item and the fact that it stands out as being 'expensive' by the sheer volume and weight that I do not want the Hall to accept it. Also when I spoke with TNT they made it sound like I had to personally sign for it...
Anyways, I went and spoke with the porter today and told him to call me on my mobile when it arrives - so phew...this should work. It's out for delivery today and the 1gig of RAM I ordered from crucial is already in my grubby paws :p

Let us know how it goes :)

I'm not surprised with this story....
TNT shipped my iPod out to me, i waited around all day and i then get a call later on the same day telling me that there was no one in at my house when they called! i said that i sat and watched for the van coming up the drive but saw nothing and they hadn't even left a card.... So it was obvious that they hadn't even tried to deliver it....

I forgot to update this ...oops. On that same day after getting back from speaking to the porter I called TNT and told them to have the driver MEET the porter and he'll contact me.
Here I was using my pbook in my room at around 9am, and at around 9:30am I glanced out my window and lo and behold I see a TNT truck whizzing past!
I pretty much rushed down to meet the guy and got the G5. The point is - if I didn't look, I would have been G5less and very very unhappy...
Not to mention that TNT didn't care for a word I said.
