    ibook

Well basically, i want a decent portable solution. I already own a laptop but the thing is, i do work on it and it's got a decent spec, so i want to get rid of that and get something which is small, sexy, portable.

The iBook was the first thing i looked at as a) it's sexy b) it's portable c) it's cheap d) i've never had a mac before

So, off i gander on the mac webby, education discount ta, i don't pay VAT either which is a bonus, so hey presto, an uber cheap iBook.

The real question is.... is it really worth it?

If you're not paying VAT, and you're getting an educational discount, then really, consider the Powerbook. It's not that much more expensive, but it feels, and is far superior in the build quality and the hardware inside it.

To answer the question, is it worth it? Yes! I got a Mac and it changed the way that I work, I found that (coming from a Linux background) it's a lot more productive to have a machine where it's *nix based, but you don't need to do any fiddling to have things working as you need.
