iBook G5
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/01..._powerbook_g5/
"Tucked away in a discussion about Apple's manufacturing partners are references to an iBook G5 and a PowerBook G5, which will ship in Q2 2005. They will be built by Asustek and Quanta, respectively."
-
I doubt the g5 will be released in the pb's and ibooks at the same time. It wouldnt make any sense :)
-
yeah PB would come first, then maybe 6months later for the iBook?
Like Gordy says, it's always best to try and seperate the ranges and give people more incentive to buy the more expensive ones.
ie there is a fine line between pb and ib at teh moment, and people are going for the cheaper iBook etc rather than spend the extra money for pBook.
-
yeah, iirc they're trying to get the thermal footprint down enough for the PB, but I doubt it'll happen before the end of the year. iBook G5 I very much doubt this year, more likely spring next year.
-
The ibooks stayed g3 for years after the pbs went g4 so I think we can expect the same here :)
-
naa, I think this will happen a bit quicker as they want to get the whole apple range to 64-bit.
-
hmm, looks like there was actually a bit of truth in that story actually..
I guess Apple want to shift over to 64bit sooner rather than later..
-
Perhaps G5 mac minis will follow soon after that... :)
-
it wouldn't surprise me, probably shipping with something a bit more pokey in the gfx dept. too so coreimage will actually run properly on it..
