I've just got a Mac Mini... help!

    Hi,

I've just got a Mac Mini, and well, for the most part it's fine.

I've paired it up with a Microsoft Cordless Optical Desktop -however I'm having some troubles with it, I can't seem to access the hash character, however almost all other keys are fine. It is in UK mode, but I assume its PC UK not Apple UK.

From 1-9 and 0 with shift pressed it is the following: !@£$%^&*(). The hash key is located next to enter and unshifted creates "\" and shifted creates "|". The key should have hash on unshifted and tilde ~ on shifted.

    Any ideas?

    Kind Regards,

    Ruairi

Well usually if you're getting @ when you press shift + 2 then your press shift + @ you'll get "... So I would guess that if you press \ (or maybe shift + \) you'll get #... It would seem that the mac thinks the keyboard has a US layout though (no idea where to change that as I'm basing the above on PC use not mac use - but hey - it's a mac - so it's supposed to be EASY right?)

Try pressing the key next to the left shift button, its meant to do \ and |.

I'll check it tonight. It is set for UK though, as the pound sign (£) appears when shift-3 is pressed.

Using a mac keyboard, I think # is alt+3 (not entirely obvious...) so you could give that a go too.

    Wicked! IRC lives!

It's honestly the only time I need to use #.

Now it's just getting GNU Tools, Bochs and Fink running which will take my time up.

    Thanks guys
