Airport and USB Modems

Unfortunately we don't have cable in our area so we are stuck with a ghetto USB modem for our ADSL! Is it possible in anyway to plug this directly into one of the airport base stations with a USB port and then use a powerbook off it. If not is there anyway around this or does the modem have to be plugged into the powerbook. I'm asking as I'm rather tempted to junk our two windows PCs and get a couple of powerbooks soon
