Tiger is truly an amazing upgrade. So, who else recieved their copy today, and what do they think of it? Gonna be tweaking all night ;). Received my copy at 4pm today.

Should get mine tuesday alone with my new PM G5 :)
Mine's in the post :)
Got nothing to install it on until my mac gets fixed though :(
@TLB-
I'm a complete Apple newbie, the Mini will be my first Apple experience since the IIe many years ago. Does the Mini do justice to the new O/S? Also, will 512Mb suffice?
If not, I'll do the 1Gb install myself, $300US is pretty steep for a single stick.
Everything works fine mate :). You'll lose a couple of the visual effects but I have no problem running tiger on mine. Yes, do the 1GB install yourself, its really easy. Use a pallet knife to prise the bottom open, then just be careful not to damage anything. If your looking for good memory, I'd suggest 1GB from www.crucial.com - select mac mini from the guideQuote:

It will actually run it fine, Tiger is quicker on many things than Panther, you'll just miss out on the hardware accellerated coreimage, but software coreimage is many times faster than quickdraw was anyway..Quote:

You won't regret it! I think there are a few things that need ironing out, for example the crashes with iPhoto, but otherwise it is fast ans just nice to use! All this from a new mac user. ;)
Well it's installed and is now indexing for SpotLight.
46mins to go:(
Ive noticed the occasional bug, but as I've heard, apple rush released Tiger, and I guess we'll have to wait til the next software update. None the less, I am lovin tiger
is it worth the £58 for the update then, it still seems purely cosmetic?
It's not really cosmetic, there's a lot of stuff under the surface which makes it a lot more powerful, it's just that it's new, so most people are showing off the flashy bits at the moment..
Thought it was £89?Quote:

The real improvements are under the covers, and most users wont notice much, but there is a slight improvement in speedQuote:

Tiger seems to be the same price on both these, but if you look at the price of a mac mini- £318 on the Education store, but £305 on the Higher Education store.
yes thats right there is two stores one from uni servers and one where you just enter the details - it made a difference on my iBook but its the same price on both for tiger
