OSX playing input Sound

OK, i have a freeview box connected to the line in socket of my powerbook, I wish for this sound (from the line in) to be played over my speakers, which are plugged into *** powerbooks headphone socket. I have set the correct input device in the control panel, but cannot work out how to actually output the inputted sound!

I don't think what you're trying to do wouldnt work. Why not just plug the speakers directly into the freeview box, using the correct audio cables (from your local hifi store or maplins). Are you intending to record the sound?

The other option if you want to record the sound is to purchase an external USB sound card (I have the Hercules Muse Pocket with the neat volume knob on top). I use this to plug in my chat headset for using on skype, but the sound input from the microphone is going directly through to the headphones, which is effectively what you want to do.

Also, it may seem fairly obvious, but check there is an audio output from the freeview in the first place.
