iBook --> Mac Mini via firewire

    Is it possible?

I have a firewire cable, i want to connect my ibook to the mini and transfer some files across, can i do this with just the firewire cable?

The Mini has Tiger, the iBook Panther..

    Cheers

    Dan.

why just use an ethernet cable?

Is doesn't even need to be a crossover cable, the macs will auto sense and adjust.

Yep, perfectly possible. Choose the machine you want to take files from. Turn this off, and plug firewire cable between the two, leaving second one on. Turn it back on, holding down the T key. Once the firewire logo comes up on screen, it's HD should mount on the other mac.

The Migration Assistant in Utilities requires you to use a firewire cable.....If only I had a 2nd mac, that'd be the day!
