that'd be against the terms of the macosx EULA, which states it can only be installed on apple hardware

Personal attacks won't be tolerated but comments implying violence are?

What people are failing to understand, as Directhex has pointed out, is that apple are a complete package. By tying people into their hardware they get the best of both worlds and as we all know, Apple hardware is horribly overpriced. Apple can afford to stick this high price on their hardware because people don't have any other option. Why would Apple shoot themselves in the foot, give up this monopoly, lose hardware sales to generic PC's whilst their OS is being pirated and installed on said generic PCs and try to compete with Microsoft who have a strong foothold in the market?
I don't think people had the objection with what you were saying Oakey, it was more the way you said it. It is true that Apple are unlikely to allow their software to be used on PCs etc etc, but that doesn't mean you should infer anyone who would like to speculate on the matter must be an idiot.

Anyway, personally I think we need to remember the history of the Mac and of the PC. Although with this whole Intel episode, the two seem more similar than ever, the machines are worlds apart development wise and have their own unique qualities. I believe that Apple should keep themselves to themselves, as they have done in the past; but I see no threat to their sales nor their reputation from people making emulators for their software.
