    bad HDTV playback performance

now that apple have put HD trailors on their site i thought i would see what they look like on the 20" 1.8 G5 iMAC and its really jumpy playback - I was just wondering if it was the mac struggling or shouldnt there be a problem?

    Cheers

Is it streaming from the site or do you download it first, then play?

You need a really powerful system to play them back. As in more powerful than a 1.8 G5.

Tried them on Windows myself with the QT7 preview release. And they are DREADFULLY slow and jumpy. The WMV ones play back much better, not sure if this is due to preview release of QT7 or not though.

want to clarify just which type of HD content you're having problems with? you shouldn't have any problems with the 720p trailers or the 480p, but the 1080p trailers should deffinatelly be a no-go.

My 1.6 G5 doesn't come close. I'd think a dual 2.5 would be safe, don't quote me on that though

its onyl the 1080 that are having problems, prob would be smoother if it had more ram - 256 just doesnt cut it methinks (well i think its got 256, maybe 512)
