Why rip to mp3 when you could rip to AAC?

because only ipods work with AAC, and not everyone wants to be permanently locked into a single-vendor solution

All my music has been ripped to mp3 despite owning 2 ipods. I am always open to different players coming along.

I got like 2 DRM protected tracks rofl I think.. freebies I downloaded ages ago...

but i think if you download from itunes store you get them in aac whether you like it or not
