Ebuyer refers the 5th Generation as the iPod photo, which technically isn't true, since as much as it looks like the typical 4th gen iPod, its a whole model on its own. Its like calling the iPod mini the next generation of the normal iPod before it.

Both the 4GB and the 6GB iPod minis available now are second generation - the most significant improvements over the first are the improved battery life, and the existance of the 6GB model. Bear in mind that the first generation 4GB model is worth avoiding unless it's cheap (because of the poorer battery life), so if you're planning on buying a 4 GB mini second hand, make sure you know whether it's first or second generation.
