How easy is it to upgrade the RAM on one of these? Is it just a case of opening it up and then inserting a new stick of ram.

Main Rig: i2600k@4.3Ghz/ASUS P8P67 PRO/MSi GTX580/16GB Mushkin/HAF X/Noctua NH-D14
Very Easy....
use a pallet knife (wallpaper scraper) to prise the bottom off, then the ram is easily removable. Disassembly pdf here http://str.smashsworld.com/?mac_mini.pdf I'd suggest a 1GB stick from crucial here http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/list...mini&submit=Go
Cheers mate.
Can you upgrade anything else whilst you are in there?

RAM is the only upgrade thats quick and easy...theres nothing else really worth it...Say if you wanted a bigger hard disk...ud be much better of to purchase something like a minimate, or one of these external drives that stacks underneath the mini perfectly...have a look on 123macmini
Ok cool I have seen the lacie external HDD that fits underneath the mac mini.

Or, run an IDE cable outside and fit a larger HDD
Thats all fair...but, if you already have an 80GB drive inside the mini...you wont wont to get rid of it to replace it...you'd add to it. The external hdds that are stackable use high speed firewire...and most of all..they dont need you to mess around, cutting holes in the back of the mini to feed an IDE cable to an HDD, i.e aestheticaly displeasing. Plus, with the stackables, you get USB and firewire port hub functionality...something greatly needed when you only have 2 on the mini.Originally Posted by bsodmike
