And PCI-E at last
Edit: I'm still waiting until the 2nd revision of Intel notebooks though.
A new program called aperture too
"Aperture
Introducing the first all-in-one post-production tool for photographers. Built from the ground up for professionals, Aperture offers an advanced RAW workflow, powerful compare and select tools, nondestructive image processing and versatile printing and publishing"
id love a go with this but its seriously pro stuff that needs a powermac G5 with a lot of RAM
now we know why they did it on the eve of the photo expo in the same building AND why they've booked the largest floor space in the expo. They need the pros to buy 'aperture'
nothing special on the pb updates except i think the backlit keyboard is a good feature on the 15 and 17 model.
Heads up guys, Aperture costs £129.25 via the UK Higher Education store. RRP is £349 - if you got a system to handle it, and enjoy serious photography (at least work with RAWs over 5MP) you are gonna love this app.

hey mike... r u going to get the new g5 or the new pb maybe???
huh....
heh naw. The revision this time round is fairly minimal - and I don't see my self selling my pbook or G5 anytime soon.
Me too the bumps are not worth an upgrade , I was toying with the idea of going to the 15in but quite honestly the 12in rox's and its perfect for me.
I will consider a change when intel pb v2 is out :)
You and me both :)Quote:

i keep looking forward to whatever new stuff apple puts out but i must say i'm less than impressed by the new powerbooks. so the screen is upgraded to a resolution it should have been at ages ago. my 2 year old compaq laptop has a higher res screen than the powerbooks and cost marginally less.
i've always said if i bought a laptop it would have to be a powerbook but it looks like it's going to be a long wait until some decent intel ones are released
Thirded, as long as it has a better res than the current 12".Quote:

yea, the 23"s go for 800(ish) a pop...quite nice. Most of these revisions are targeted at the 'new' user and not really at some one with a sightly older model. However, the DL capable Superdrive does sound yummy...
Does that mean with PCI-E X16 you can use PC Graphics Cards in the NEw G5's? Or are they still going to rip off mac users and charge them double for the "Mac Version" of the Graphics Card??
Oh come on, if anything Apple have been dragging their heels on that one, seeing as DL drives have been below the £50 mark for over a year now, they could have silently slipped them into the towers ages ago.Quote:
