ipod kept locking up while playing and now i can't get her back on

ok the icon showing on my screen is an 'ipod' with an unhappy face (bit like this )
so gotta send it in for repair by what the web site reckons

i have had it for six months, so i take it's covered by apple? anyone know how long they take to turn it all around and get me a working ipod?
