Firefox memory leak

Just ran the activity monitor to see why my mini (512MB 1.5GHz 10.4.4) was running so slowly, and realised that the latest version of Firefox was taking up 1.2GB of virtual RAM!!!

Also, it's taking up anything between 40 and 60% CPU time right now, with just this window (no other tabs) open, and 260-odd MB of virtual RAM. I know the mini isn't the fastest on the block, but c'mon! This sounds way, way out of line.

Gonna give Opera a try now. Anyone else have any of these issues?

Well it's the same on the PC version if that's any help. Always need to restart firefox after a few hours to clear it.

Try using the specific g4 one

I've not noticed any problems with it tbh.

what versio are you using? the newest 1.5.01 was supposed to fix a lot of memory leaks

I have had the same problem and am now using Apple's own browser which uses hardly any memory and CPU cycles.

Yeah, not too keen on Safari TBH. Still, I'm a windows user too, so I'm used to coping with the fact that I need to restart apps for no good reason

why dont you like safari?

for me its better than firefox for that exact reason - easier on the memory

it does tabbed browsing, excellent rss support - whats not to like?
