    Mac Mini as HTPC

Ok I would really like a small quiet and inexpensive HTPC and it does not need a TV tuner as it is going to be used as a sort of super mega DVD player. I will be playing lots of Xvid and Divx files on it and was wondering if a second hand mac mini will be up to the task.

I would think so; mine has no problems whatsoever. If you want quiet operation go for the 1.25ghz; or if you want a bit more grunt see if you can seek out one of the 1.5ghz mac minis like i have. it makes a bit more noise, but it also comes with more vid memory and a faster harddrive

See here how to get front row running on the mac; it really is an awesome app

Oh make sure you get OSX Tiger

It seems the original one has been pulled (probably for legal reasons)

    Tho i found this ... http://forevergeek.com/geek_articles...on_any_mac.php

Obviously i dont know whether it works or not ...

But i should have my original instal files somewhere ...

Either way it is an awesome app

So I could do this without too many problems then, I may look into getting myself a mac mini soon then or perhaps a little Aopen mini.
