    Corrupted files!

Had a bit of an issue with my Mac.

Basically, my entire photo collection of 600 images has decided to corrupt! The files won't open under iPhoto, Preview, Photoshop, Gimp etc.

I do have a backup (I think), but is there any way of restoring the data without having to perform a restore?

I'm just about to go try a Disk Repair and Permissions Repair.

Im in a similar situation. All my permissions messed up and I installed Mac OS X again with a format. I had about a 1000 pictures though that I did not backup Is there anyway I can do anything to get these back?

You could try a disc recovery tool but you may not find a suitable one for macs file system thats cheap.

I've just bitten the bullet, wiped off my pics after a bit of fiddling, only lost about 5 overall, thankfully the rest were backed up somewhere!

I just managed to find my graduation photos uploaded on snapfish so have ordered some prints. My girlfriend was nearly in tears. Lost about 800 pics from three great years at uni.

    Moral of the story BACKUP

Agreed! I'm making sure to keep DVD backup of all my photos from now on!
