Can anyone see iTV getting a name change when it hits the UK due to a certain broadcasting company of the same name :P Wish I had the gapless playback on my iPod, not worth buying an update till mine dies on its backside. Had mine 3 years and its still going strong.
iTV is just the code name it will be renamed for launch Steve Jobs said as much in his talk.
iTV - if it is a PVR and can record + interface to an EPG then it's very interesting.
If not, then there are other products already available that can handle simple streaming and either cost less or do more.
Disney movies for download - what a surprise... The big deal will be getting other studios onboard. The resolution bump is welcome, and about time. But are they just going to be throwing away 1/2-1/3 of the resolution for widescreen movies?
8Gb nano same price as 30Gb viPod -aargh, difficult decision time.
All-in-all, nice interim releases, but not enough to stave off the post-2005 slump methinks.
It can't do PVR - Yet..
Given their direction it seems logical that it could well evolve into something like a tivo..
Its a shame that the 8gb nano doesn't come in the range of colours, bizarre decision if you ask me. My wife saw the pink one and wanted it immediately, but then realised it had a smaller capacity than her old 6gb pink mini.
Am also loving the new iTunes 7, although it has a few glitches (you can't drop album artwork into that bottom left corner when highlighting a few tracks).
The album flicking thing is however uber-cool.
Almost makes me want to have a proper mac.
One thing I've found is that the cover art download feature can take some time to retrieve the image. Though it might be that Apple's servers are being hammered by people updating their collections :).
The new cover flip feature is indeed extremely cool, and has convinced me to switch from foobar. The only downside is that I've realised how disorganised my music collection (mostly ripped from my own CDs) is and I've had to go through it a retag a lot of stuff.
I just wish Apple would get its head out of its posterior and put a decent mp3 encoder in iTunes, then it would be perfect.
ID3 tagging (as well as suitable structuring of files in explorer directories) is something that takes up far too much of my time, although i do think overall it's worth it.
ITunes itself does a fair job of this if you instruct it to, it just does not do it the way i want.
20,000 songs done, about 1000 left to go....
Yep love the new itunes, but it does bring on the question as its slowly becoming more complex and handling video if the name should change.
WMP used to be nice and simple too, but bundling too many functions into it has brough the mess that its in now. Hope Apple does not follow this and sticks to what its good at, imedia anyone? NO THANKS
