Apple ipod Video Updater

Hello all,

Last night, I fired up iTunes and it stated that there was a newer version available. I downloaded and installed the newer version (7) and then when I plugged in my iPod to synch up, it let me know that there was a firmware update.

Now, I usually download these manually from the Apple site and install, so that i can always restore i particular version if needed. However, i did this all through iTunes (which worked really well and transparently btw) and its now on version 1.2

I didnt know if there was any difference until this morning when i played a trance album in my car on the way to work - there was finally no gap between the tracks in the DJ set. About time too really, but this made me think what else is there? I dont have a fixed list, as this usually comes in Read Me form when you download the original exe.

I'd like to know what other changes there are - I've just noticed that when plugged into the PC via USB to charge, the backlight seems brighter, which helps you to see the little charging image.

If anyone can point me in the right direction then that would be great. And i Have looked at Apples site, but i cant find it - latest update points to 2006-06-28

Oopps! Should have read the other thread first... So i get the letter search do i??? GOnna have a look around with it now. Mind you, i read on an apple forum that people are having problems with iTunes 7/QT and having the audio distorted - this can be fixed by going into QT audio settings and lowering the quality values slightly...

I've accidentally done the letter scrolling thing once or twice now, but I can't for the life of me work out how i did it!?

It doesn't seem to work too well as it takes a while to show up, best way to test is by going into Music>Songs and giving it a few 360 circular motions when your in that list.

Yep, just tried it out literally this minute, and thats what you have to do, loop a few times then a letter pops up and you cycle through that. And also, you dont have to be in just music>songs, it works on albums/artists etc, so i guess anywhere you can scroll through.

Doesnt immediately hit me as amazingly useful, but nice to have nonetheless. But Gapless playback - still loving that!!! Odd how the removal of a tiny tiny pause can make something sound so much better!!!

The new brightness control is whats really impressed me. You can now set the brightness level from the settings menu, and also while watching a video file. This should help to get an hour or more out of the battery.

Just tried that out and I have it on about 40% Its surprisingly still clear in the day, so should be fine at night. Wonder if it will make muc difference to the battery life. Time will tell

little off topic but what is the peoples opinion with the new itunes?
Pretty cool huh? tho it is still missing the nicest feature of winamp. when you change songs it fades into it rather than stopping it, its only little but feels really nice.

Well, what i think is missing and is a bit of a pain is that, say for example, you are select to play an album in the library by double clicking it, then start browing around to other songs, then if it reaches the end of the first song, then playback stops. This is definitley a pain for me.

Imagine you want to compile a playlist or something/add album art/add new tunes/rename ID3 tags/whatever, but you want to listen to something in the background, then is is really annoying when it stops unless the song you are playing is in view. you would have thought that the album would just continue playing....

Am i being thick (not totally unknown to happen :))??? Try it out...
