    ipod nano problem...

i've bought my mum an ipod nano for her birthday and on first firing it up, i've noticed the hold featured doesn't work, if you click hold and then even place it down on the table it lights up and the menus are displayed...

anyone ever had this happen to them?

really cheesed off, especially as it was a birthday present.

to make it worse, i bought it via the apple store on the web... so i assume i have to send it back to apple and would not be able to take it into a store?

T0ake it to an Apple Store, it will still be under warranty and they should replace it there and then once you demonstrate the problem.

that's correct, on my nano, if you click hold nothing happens, not even the screen backlight comes on, that said, it appears the hold button on this new nano is a little wonky, by pressing it really firmly it seems to hold without switching back on again, now...

In regards to taking it into the store... it doesn't matter if you bought it online or not... you can take it into an Apple store and speak with the guys there.

And it does sound like it's defective. The hold button should disable all controls on the player. The screen shouldn't be lighting up.
