Hi all, any of you with MBP's had your iSights fail after updating to 10.4.8?
Had a couple a work here do it, and sadly no-one at Apple is able to fix it. :S

I've got the MB and the iSight is fine after 10.4.8
Not a Pro, but it may be helpful?
Whats the symptoms?
Does the Green LED come on? Stay on?
Green light isn't on, but no matter what app you try it doesn't work. Hardware testing reports it still being there, so I can only assume it's a software issue - something daft like a driver not releasing the hardware making everything else not see it, or see it as being unavailable. Try Photobooth and see if it works...
I've tried PRAM, PMU resets and even a reinstall. No good. :/
My MBP is great after the update, feels a little faster i think.
sorry to hear about your luck.

OMG how weird is this.
Had some great use out of my macbook today, used the isight a lot (my mates love it with photo booth and all). I get it home and the camera just doesn't want to work. The green light does not come on, and everytime I try to use the cam i.e. in Photobooth I get an error coming up, saying that either it is being used by another application, or it cannot be detected.
System profiler shows it as not being there. I boot up into windows and the webcam doesn't work, and isn't detected. Each time i boot up I get the found new hardware wizard and it always fails.
So I think I have a hardware problem. Last update was some time ago. Any help would be much appreciated otherwsie I will have to take it to the nearest approved resaler.
Pretty gutting tbh.
Any Help much appreciated
Ian

You've got the same problem. I reinstalled the OS last night, no joy. Looks like it's going back to Apple.
so reinstalling the whole os did nothing for you?
have you tried yours in windows as well? im guessing you have this applecare protection then? so they pick it up, repair it etc?
i have to take it to an authorised dealer and they will charge me if it turns out to be a software problem, but i guess with this now it kind of proves its not a software problem
cheers lowe
pretty gutted i turned it on this morning hoping it would have fixed itself (but it didnt)
ian
PS. I go into system profiler and there is no sign of my isight anywhere

No issues with mine on the latest update
Trip to apple for lowe
Not got any issues with mine after the update (MP).
If you take it to a Genius bar then they'll take a look (and rule out it being a software problem) then get it sorted out for you. I had the random shutting down problem so nipped down to the Genius bar in Brum and they sorted me out very quickly
