    Mac Mini Display Resolution

    Hi all,

I can now post in here as a bought an Intel Mac Mini at a bargin price as a play thing. I've got the mac plugged into the VGA socket of a Dell 2401 monitor. However I cannot set the resolution over 1024x786. I find that very hard to believe that thats the maximium these machines can do.

Could someone with mac experience explain how to up the resolution to perhaps the native resolution of the 2401. That would be great.

Get it plugged in via DVI It'll pickup the native res and set it.

I had this problem with my widescreen monitor, I ended up having to use some other program to hack it about - think it was called ResolutionX or something.

thanks for the input, I'll be happy to try this, however I will not be running the mac off the DVI connector as I only bought it as a "bit of fun" plaything and my main PC runs of the DVI connector.

I didn't think the resolution would be limited via the connector, but I understand your saying its the detection.

Whats the program you used to hack away with it, as I suspect this is something I'll probably have to do.

Can a Mini owner confirm the machine will support 1366*768 as thats my TV's resolution and I'd like the Mini as a HTPC

methanoid - with the tool mentioned above you can set the resolution to anything your video/monitor will support

Seeing as I'm running it at native resolution on a dell 2405 - I can't see you having a massive problem
