How odd, I was expecting that to be one of the differentiators between them and the MBPs.

If you purchased it within 14 days of a new release/model, Apple should replace it for you. Just make alot of noise on the phone or something. I've successfully done it before.

Does anyone know the name of the hard cases which are designed for Apple notebooks? Sort of like the Shinza Zeroshock but more rigid. I want to zip the Macbook into something and then throw it in my bag.

Doubt it would need to be that rigid really. I've got a crumpler zip case for my PB and I just chuck that in my bag. Does the job.

Now I'm in a quandry, I was all ready to order a new MBP with Core 2 Duo, but now I'm wondering if the extra will really be worth it....

Totally agree with you on this one, I will sell my first generation mini to cover some of the costs.

The Mac Mini's are some of the best machines out there. Why waste £1k on a macbook when you can get a mac mini and 30 inch screen for £700

Yeah, sorry I forgot to add I was talking about people getting one of these for a desktop replacement.

For a cheap portable they are great.

Mmm, me want badly! It would be nice to replace my powerbook. How much do you think I would get for a g4 1.5 ghz 768mb 12"?
    Not around too often!

    A 30" screen + Macmini for 700 quid? Where?

IIRC the macmini doesn't come with a dedicated graphics card, so it wouldn't be able to drive a big display would it? Or are you talking about a TV?

Also the MacMini can't even run the 30" screen as the graphics card doesn't go up that high

I'm not hugely bothered as my MB still shifts. Would be interested in benchmark differences between the Core and Core2 in the MB
