Media centre / center for first gen Mini

I've got a G4 mini in my posession, and was thinking of hoiking it up to the TV to use as a media centre type thing.

I'd just be using the DVI to s-video/composite convertor for the time being, but as the first generation mini doesn't have IR or Front Row, I can't do it without getting other equipment.

Is there a reasonably cheap way to do this without buying expensive hardware and software?

then either get an IR keyboard (and use any reasonable learning remote like a logitech harmony or one-for-all kameleon to emulate keyboard keypresses); a windows MCE remote; or an ati remote wonder
