    Re: Your HDTV Setups

Just got my first projector after years of successfully putting it off. It's not quite set up yet as I still need to get the ceiling mount, but above my 50" 1080p plasma I now have a 92" motorised screen, being fed by a Panasonic AE-4000 1080p projector.

I'll get some pics up once the pj is mounted properly.

    Re: Your HDTV Setups

As this one has been kicked into life again, I thought Id update mine.

This *was* my system when I lived in Telford-

PC based system : NAD 3020A, Project Debut TT, JPW mini monitors.
Now Im in Northampton, I had to leave that lot behind. After a while scouring ebay and local ads, I have replaced the above with :

LG 32" full HD LCD, Philips DVD player (upscaler with DivX), Virgin V+ HD box
Marantz SR 5200 av amp, Acoustic Solutions tall freestanding loudspeakers front (OK, but they *were* free), JPW mini monitors rear and cente rear, Tannoy MXC, Gale sub. Still got the Sennheisers and my good cables including a 20m VGA cable from PC to TV for HD (and yes, it does work).

My ex has also said I can have my old Yamaha sub next time I visit. I've also offered the Aegis speakers a home if her new house isnt big enough for them.
    Cheers, David

Any one thinks the PS3's 3D capabilities are worth the expense? 3D TV+ PS3 + enough specs for the family to wear? Will it be in everyones living room one day? Will it be on these pages?

    No. BL3D is designed around HDMI 1.4 - something PS3 doesn't have.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

It's not quite finished yet, but I thought I'd post anyway. Mainly based around B&W 805s, monolith, and an Optoma HD700x projector, plus a few other bits and bobs.

    Re: Your HDTV Setups

I recently moved and for now the AV gear is chucked in a corner on a cabinet until such time as I finish decorating the upstairs of the house and can make a start on downstairs.

System is currently 3.1 based around:

    Sony KDL40S2530 TV and PS3,
Sony STR-DA1200ES powering the centre (and eventually rears) with a Behringer A500 for fronts,
PMC DB1i for the fronts, a Paradigm CC-350 in the centre and a REL Strata for the sub.

I recently blew the sub up - literally - watching Avatar. The driver and amp were fine but the enclosure over pressurised and with the glue being 10 years old or more, split down one of the edges!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nlFUF_zpvE

You can clearly see the line in the centre disappear when I squeeze the side. Sadly this gap creates a huge audible vibration when trying to push the sub hard. I've managed to glue it and seal it for now, but it's very much a short term fix. New sub needed. Question is, what to go for. The BK Monolith is attractive but I really believe in auditioning before paying money. A matching PMC sub is a possibility, but unless you're looking at the X series they don't go low enough for my liking and cost a stack load!

    Is that Predator 2 playing?
I've never blown a sub before, a fuse in a sub yeah, but never blown one apart, that's crazy bass!

    Yup, Predator 2.

Yeah, was silly amounts of bass, but then was listening at a pretty high level. I think it was the final battle scene which finished it off. I also have a penchant for music by Hans Zimmer, especially the Dark Knight and Da Vinci Code/Angels and Demons so it's fair to say my sub gets a fair bit of (ab)use.

Ha, only ever seen that film the once, good memory 4 movies.
I too like to have my system at Peak volume for films like Avatar and Dark Knight, so loud the system shakes the hell out of the room/house, much to the annoyance of my neighbour, but my ms309 sub has lasted hmm going on 5 years now, that paired with my 908's I got in 2006 create overwealming bass, which is all good.

New centre, new receiver, and for giggles I hooked up some poor rear channels until such a time that I can get the FB1i's I want for the front.

The new centre's running in nicely, it's going to get a real pasting over the weekend.

Gentle to your neighbours - No, but then again I don't really like him. I don't run my system at peak 24/7 though, just moderate volume in day time and allot quieter at night then switch to headphones after 11pm so I guess I am, never used to care though.
That's a big screen there matey, how does it work though with the tv in front of it, or do you move the tv when the projector is on?

    Re: Your HDTV Setups

Yes I have to put it on the floor - takes few seconds but 89" projection screen is definitely worth it.
I am always afraid that my neighbor will come banging on my door... Did it happen to anyone?

Yeah, he's been round in the past, I think I was watching Max Payne at the time and the whole house was shaking from the bass (I admit that it was a tad too loud) but I ignored him as the film was almost over anyways. I only had it that loud as revenge for him and his ruddy DIY shenanigans starting very early in the morning and not finishing till after 8pm. I don't have it that loud anymore, don't see the point.
He's been round before but this time it was in the day time and wasn't half as loud, just shut the door in his face and went back to the film, it's not as if I was doing it all the time, was a special occasion.
