When a dealer registers a vew vehicle in the wrong name...

When a dealer registers a new vehicle in the wrong name, how long does it take for the dealer/DVLA to deregister the vehicle and re-register it with the correct details?

Today I was supposed to learn the reg of my replacement car after the theft and I was supposed to take delivery on Thursday. But the dealer has cocked up and registered the vehicle in the wrong name. He now is de-registering the vehicle so that it can be issued yet another reg and registered to me.

How long is this likely to take?
The replacement car team at my insurers tell me they don't know how long it's likely to take.

It's pissing me off to say the least.
