    Though it's not that difficult after a bit of practise. He should have been left foot braking in a few places though

    It's used to keep the engine at the right rpm for the next gear, reducing engine braking and saving the clutch from increased wear. If you were doing a race and you didn't do that, you'd shag the clutch after 15 laps.
