    Quick question on number plates

I'm about to sell my car, and I've got my own number plate which I want to keep. Is there anywhere where i can buy cheap number plates, i just need any random 51 plate to put on the car.
Done some searching but all the sites I've look at are private number plates sites that want 200+ for them

    Thanks.

Er, just transfer your old one off and the DVLA will issue you with the car's original plate (or an age related plate).

    You don't buy one!

Yup, or you can do it by post but it takes longer.

I usually go to the office with all the forms (get them from the Post Office before you go - details on www.dvla.gov.uk) and the cheque and they'll do it there and then.

The "old" car gets its original plate back and your "new" car gets your private plate. Get there really early unless you can afford to waste a day.
