Time to get a new jacket and helmet , any good on line places to buy them. Only one local-ish bike shop with not much choice round here! Also if you have used them , what are the sizes like ? are they about right , generous or on the small side ?

Personally, I'd NEVER buy a lid without trying it on first. It might be worth the ride out to somewhere bigger if you've not got anywhere good near you, because if it doesn't fit well there's not much point wearing it.
Leathers i can't comment on, only ever had textiles here.
I'll try to dig out the website I ordered my lock and earplugs from, there were really good for delivery and customer service, might take me a while though.

Different manufacturers of leathers and lids are all sized differently. For instance, I am a Medium inmost AGV lids, but a Large in a Shark lid. You really need to try the lid you want on before you buy to ensure a safe, comfortable fit. I would NEVER recommend buying a lid without trying it on first...
Having said that - if you find one you can try on - you can always compare prices on the net afterwards once you are happy with the fit - to save some money.
Good places to try are:

Personally I can recommend Hein gericke and JS - HG have branches all over the country and they are well worth a visit. JS have some great offers on lids and leathers too.

Yeah get the point about lids , i do know my size and which one i want. Thought i might get a better deal on line for a jacket though ?
Thing with helmets is... to get one you have to go through the shop and don't look at the price at all. Just try as many as you can on - it might be that the best fitting one is less expensive than you thought. If it isn't, keep going back through the order of best fit until you can afford it (although really you should go in being able to afford anything on offer, just in case).
Last time I bought a lid, I tried on everything from budget basement lids through to the top range Arais, and ended up getting a Suomy thing that fitted like nothing else and it was only £70. Pleasantly suprised I was when I looked at the price tag
