    OMG 1.6 Astra's suck

    Zak,

If you have to sell these I feel sorry for you.

    Gutless!

That sums it up really. I drove one today at work and all I can say is Gutless. It really is that bad. The suspension rolls all over the place and the driving position isn't particularly friendly it has to be said.

Drove one about 3 1/2 years ago. You had to rev it to get anywhere but other than that I quite liked it.

My dad has driven one from Nottingham to Manchester a few times, think it was the 1.6.

He is a true 'A' to 'B' man when it comes to cars (he drives a not so fancy W reg Primera) and even he says it is crap driving position/nasty driving experience all round.

diesel Astras - now they're not too bad

    1.9 Turbo Zak?

Any way; not as nice as my MG - but probably a bit faster and the steering is as light as a computer game

'even the s2000' - bit of a mis-example there - the engine in that is DESIGNED to rev high to give more power - rather than just being a small engine that needs to be revved to get anything

Hmm my dad's 1.6i Astra goes alright, its certainly not as solid as my Octavia in the handling stakes but its pretty pokey. All be it keeping it up in the power. I don't enjoy driving high rev cars it seems, tis why I ended up with my octavia, round the round about at 2k rpm in 2nd, put foot on gas, change up to 3rd coming up to 5k rpm at 60

Milton Keynes has re-inspired my love for driving, I keep having to remember not to try and take roundabouts at 70mph tho, as it just doesn't feel like it

    OK, I admit...

the 1.6 Astra is SUPERB..... compared to.....

    the 1.4

    The 1.4 was a 5door 51 plater
The 1.6 was an esatae 03 plater
Both are the current shape as you can probably work out by the regs.

The estate rolled around like a jelly, and the driving position is bad in both cars.
The 1.6 made the right noises but had no real uummph
The 1.4 made no noises and had no go.
