Can you use your no claims bonus on multiple policies? e.g. Use your no claims on car 1, and buy a second car and use it on that too? Or only one policy at a time?
Cheers,
Adrian

Yeah, most companies stipulate it can only be used once in their terms and conditions. Try a multicar policy though if you want different cars all with the discount.
Probably get a better deal with 2 cars on the same policy as SHare says, then multi no claims use won't be an issue.
So if you were to get insured with another company on another car you'd have to say you have 0 no claims bonus?
Yes, otherwise you wouldnt be covered if you claimed. Stuff like that would invalidate you insurance.
Well, no, not quite.
You'd tell them that you have another car, and that the NCD is used for that, and you'd tell them the accident/claim/conviction history, etc, and they'll give you a quote.
Essentially, the nature of an insurance contract is that you are supposed to provide complete and honest information. You're supposed to act in "utmost good faith". If you don't, and they find out, it may invalidate your insurance entirely.
The logic is that they base their premium on their assessment of risk, and they base that assessment (in part) on the information you supply. So if you withhold something relevant, that information may have led them to increase the premium .... or to decline to cover you at all.
Best bet .... be open with them, tell them what you're doing, and work with them to get the best cover in the circumstances.
You might find some companies that will offer to honour an existing NCD on multiple vehicles. But what happens if you then have a claim on one? Do you then lose NCD (and hence get a higher premium) on both?
Not all Policys allow NCD for named drivers ?
How would you submitt your proof of NCD when taking out a second policy ?
I run my cars on 2 seperate policies (with the same insurer )- I think the insurers take account of the 9+ years no claims I have when calculating my runabout premium , but its also building up its own NCD.

Sorry, I meant named policy holder, not just named driver.
Same as you do when taking out your first (it's usually the same certificate as your renewal quote I think). How would you submitt your proof of NCD when taking out a second policy ?
The policy probably doesn't take account of the fact you have another policy, therefore builds up an independant NCD just incase. However you should just be able to use the renewal quote from your first policy as proof of NCD, for any policy.I run my cars on 2 seperate policies (with the same insurer )- I think the insurers take account of the 9+ years no claims I have when calculating my runabout premium , but its also building up its own NCD.

just tell your insurance company you want to get off road or short term insurance (i.e track day) and you need the proof for that.
might not work but worth a try
i would tell the new company anyway, phone them all untill you find one that will accept it. You could send evidence of the price of the other policy?, if you cant get ncb evidence.
